Our Story

A few years ago, Sabrina and Geraldine met at a business network social and started chatting like old friends, even continuing their conversation over coffee the next day. They quickly discovered their similarities. Both like chucking the stereotypical conservative and boring accountant attitude; and both like F-E-A-R (Face Everything and Rise).

Even their different skills sets and experiences complemented one another perfectly. So when Sabrina suggested starting an accounting firm together, Geraldine said YES right away. Within the next two hours, they nutted out their business plan and Fortiz Accountants was born.

“F-E-A-R has two meanings: Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. The choice is yours.” – Zig Ziglar

Their mission was simple and continues today – to provide sound accounting and taxation advice by making numbers engaging and easy to understand.

No formal, stuffy approach. No complicated jargon.

It’s about YOU and YOUR business first, the numbers second.

It’s about LISTENING to your needs, UNDERSTANDING what makes you tick, then offering TAILORED SOLUTIONS.

It’s about making accounting EASY and ACCESSIBLE so you make GOOD FINANCIAL DECISIONS.

Above all, you ONLY work with our highly qualified CPAs, each with more than 20 years of experience in public, corporate and small business accounting. Plus, we’re very friendly and approachable.

We’re more than just number crunchers, and you’re not just a number.

We look deeper to help your business or investment achieve its highest potential.

With Fortiz Accountants, you get a trusted and experienced partner to accompany you on your business or investment journey.

I’m passionate about numbers. I love showing people how numbers work so they get better at managing their cash flow and planning ahead. So after more than 20 years working in the corporate sector and being a director of several companies, Geraldine and I established Fortiz Accountants to help business owners, particularly new migrants and non-Australian resident investors, take their businesses to the next level.

With extensive experience in senior finance and management roles in hotels, B&Bs, student accommodation, retail, and food and beverage (F&B) businesses, I’ve become an expert in yield management, ADR analysis, RevPAR, food costing and determining break-even costs. And we’re very proud of the outcomes we’ve achieved as business consultants – preparing sound projection reports with multiple scenarios to enable investors to proceed with multi-million-dollar investments.

I have lived in Melbourne for 20 years, and love building community networks, where I help organise fun events that bring people together. So when I’m not working on client accounts, I volunteer as Treasurer for Muhibbah Community Inc., an incorporated not-for-profit association. I’m also the Administrator of the Malaysians in Business Melbourne Facebook group.

Geraldine Lee, Partner

Bachelor of Science
Master of Business (Accounting)
Diploma in Financial Planning
FCPA (Australia), CA (Singapore), CA (Australia & NZ)
Registered Tax Agent

I started my career in Singapore as an auditor in Deloitte & Touche, later moving on to corporate accounting and senior finance management roles in listed companies and large organisations with more than $500 million turnover. Later, I spent a year living in the UK before eventually moving to Melbourne more than 10 years ago.

Now more than 20 years after I commenced my career, where I lived and breathed budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and bottom-line analyses, I love putting my full range of accounting skills to good use at Fortiz Accountants – helping businesses grow. In fact, we’re very proud of our results in turning around unprofitable businesses to achieve profits of $500,000 to $1 million within 12 months of appointment.

Aside from tax, accounting and business consulting, I also manage the Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) to advise on superannuation and self-managed superannuation funds. In fact, I am an avid property investor and director of several companies.

When not cuddling my menagerie of pets, I support pet rescues via donations and pro bono work, as well as, mentor not-for-profit organisations as part of CPA Australia and Pro Bono Australia’s ‘Mentor the Treasurer’ program.

I have spent my entire career working in taxation including corporate tax compliance and tax advisory. I started my career in Malaysia as a tax consultant in KPMG, where I rose steadily to become Tax Manager, Senior Tax Manager and eventually, Tax Director. I also worked as a Tax Manager for Dairy Farm Group of Companies and Malaysian Institute of Taxation as Technical Director.

I am meticulous and leave no stone unturned. I love working through raw data, making sense of it all and turning these into clear and concise tax returns. Having lived in several different countries, I have been exposed to various cultures and practices.

I spend my free time volunteering as a Treasurer for the Melbourne Figure Skating Club Inc., scrapbooking, baking, reading and supporting my children in their ice-skating practices and competitions.
